Having problems rearranging my IE7 Favorites folder from "star" pull down in explorer 7 under XP Pro x86. When recent new install only months ago for testing, I used to be able to move my order of favorites aorund as well as the sub folders and the order of each inside, just as I can in my x64 installs. Now I cant't. As soon as I tryand let go on the item, it opens the actual folder in favorites directioy in "C" drive. Even if I move within there, they dont stay as set. I cant remember changing anything major, so what setting ould have locked this set?
Thats the strange thing, I can do it that way now, but I used to be able to just drag and move up or down any of the items directly in the favorites "star" menue of IE7. Can it be something that changed in the actual C drive folder (favorites)?
Don't know on that one - but the last time something weird happened with IE7, I found the solution was to go to > Tools > Internet Options > select Advanced tab and click " Restore Advanced Settings" and then choose "Reset" - Not saying this will work But if I had this problem it would be one thing I would try.
More weirdness. Now I was just about to try , except I got a denied message, "This opperation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer" I am log in as my amin acc.
The only thing I did recently was run The cleaner and cleaned some old registries.
If you are using spybot search and destroy open...
If you are using spybot search and destroy open it and goto immunize icon, at bottom of page uncheck the option that protects ie explorer. then goto file,exit, close currently open explorer windows. then reopen new window and tools should work properly.
If you're not using spybot then try this:
Launch REGEDIT from the Start menu's Run dialog. Navigate to HKEY_ CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\ Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ Restrictions. If you don't find the key, look for the same key but starting in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. In the right-hand pane, look for a value named NoBrowser Options. If this value exists, delete it and restart your computer.
The 3rd option is to try a repair of IE. Go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Internet Explorer. Double-click on it and when the dialog opens choose Repair from the options provided.

I tryed that and it didnt really work. I mean it didnt for sure for the IE x64 but did once for the x86 brouser, but only untill the page acually connected (home page) then it gave same warning again and from then on. I had many choices for each IE x64 and a few for x86/x64. I even did the "undo" in SpyBot and closed/exited, and nothing. I tested pulling LAN cable, and it worked as long as it couldnt connect to anything, even w/ SpyBot fully enabled and imunized. I shouldn't have to pull cable just to clear my history or temp files.
It is looking like something in regisrty that the CCleaner did, cause I was able to make changes just fine before I ran that app. So I will try the reg method you posted and see how it does.
