why can't software open my mp3's

i can play certain mp3's but when i use nero or any program to try to burn onto a cd, the program says, 'cannot add...' or 'wrong file type'. is it because these mp3's are locked or something? this isn't all mp3's, just some. is there any way of gettig around with a certain program? thanks.

if you got them from itunes then yes they are protected,

are you sure they are mp3s and not another audio types?
get a codec pack
