Philips SA6185/02 Freezing

I have had the player for about a month now and had no problems with it until today. It still plays music and videos without any problem but, everytime I connect the player to the PC it goes to the "Do not disconnect!" screen and freezes you can't turn it of it doesn't connect (you still get the connect and remove device sound effects, and the only way to get it off of that screen is to reset it.

Also, and possibly related, when I go to the playlist screen which should look like sort of like this

it looks like this

and if i scroll to the bottom of the list I get loads of what appear to be arabic characters and sometimes chinese characters.

Help would be apreciated thanks in advance.

To clarify if it wasn't already it is the player that freezes.

Philips sent me a reply to my message and i fixed the problem. You need to soft reset while the device manager is running and the player is connected to the pc and it will fix the error.
