is it true that ritek discs are being held and that they will no longer be sold? I've heard this about a month now at my local shops. something that they haven't paid royalties and are going under due to this. any info would be appreciated, I've searched high and low online to find nothing, but this has come from 3 different computer store owners or managers. these are college and spadina toronto canada stores if anyone is interested.

I'm sure Meritline has tons of Ritek stock for sale in it's inventory. If it is true then Maxell will have to find another supplier for it's discs....

No idea...

As to the possible demise (?) of Ritek I've only heard about it in this thread. Anybody know for sure?

ya I really don't know what to make of this. If anyone is in toronto they can find out from my sources at filtech computer, tech direct and cana-imports. I found out from these 3 different sources about this. Been using these discs a long time, would be a shame if there is any merit to this. I was told that some shipment is being held in the states, due to them not paying the royalty to phillips. thats the info I got anyway. These guys say they heard from their respective suppliers.

Meritline has them on sale(-R)only for 23.99 per 100 with free shipping. Last week they had them on sale for $43 for 200 with free shipping. So far the TY value line has been of equal quality as their premium line.....
