Hi, i have a Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard which has component tv out.

I've connected my PC to my Sony Bravia KDLS3000 with the VGA cable with no problems, it display's at 480i/60.

The problem is i've bought a component cable, the red, green and blue one, which matches my component tv out on my PC and tv, which i bought because my motherboard supports high definition video processing.

I connected my PC to my tv with the component cable and turned it on, for the first ten or so seconds windows seems to display properly at 480i as with the VGA cable but suddenly it flickers and blacks out, then comes back on displaying 576i/50 and the windows loading logo breaks up.

It continues to load normally but everything on the screen turns blue, windows is blurry and has various vertical and horizontal artifacts kind of like a tv channel thats not tuned in properly.

Can anyone help and explain why it switches from a normal displayed windows screen at 480i to 576i and causes this problem. I've tried every possible setting etc, thanks for your time and help.

You need to set your video options from PAL (576i/50) to NTSC (480i/60)

Hi, no luck i'm afraid, the only way i can change to NTSC is in my computer bios, there,s two NTSC settings and about five PAL and i've tried them all, there,s no way of changing this on my tv.

Also i can't change to 480i as my tv does this automatically, i think the answer if there is one is in my bios but i just can't figure it out.

I wanted to use my component connection to take advantage of the hi-def motherboard as i have some hi-def video files of the space shuttle etc.

Do you think i need a seperate graphics card, i can't understand way it switches to 576i?, thank you for your help.

There's a jumper on some graphics cards to set this...

Hmm, you'll have to consult your manual for this then, I don't use nvidia hardware or integrated graphics.

Thanks for your help and time, i just wanted to connect that way because i thought i could use my Hi-Def motherboard and component connection to play my Hi-Def files in higher quality but i'll probably go back to VGA.

Would my DVI out put converted to a HDMI cable using a converter work, or i'm i just going down the same road.

VGA will offer far superior quality to TV out mode, I assure you. DVI to HDMI, however, will be even better.

Thank you sammorris i will give that a try, my tv is only 50 hertz but has a PC mode with a VGA connection that uses 480i/60.

I think that means it runs at 60 hertz in PC mode, will this be a problem if i connect through DVI-HMDI as it runs through a different AV socket.

That process should sort itself out automatically.

Hi again, still no luck with the component connection from my PC to TV, i've even tried a DVI to RGB cable but that doesn't work either, no signal is display on the monitor.

I've tried every bios setting but it just won't work, so i guess DVI to HDMI will certainly not work, any idea's?, my RGB to RGB works fine though.

I see no reason why DVI to HDMI wouldn't work.
