"Cannot record on disc" error after formatting attempt

Have VCR/DVD combo unit - Symphonic SR90VE.
Suddenly I get error message while formatting discs that I've already used several times (DVD-RW), stops on 8% formatted, and after several minutes the "Cannot record on this disc. E7 0003100" error pops up. I have no clue as to what's happened or how to fix this. Will be very grateful for any help!
