i just got the newly released ultimate edition of Rambo: First blood. I noticed in the past that Lionsgate movies have problems with Dvdfab but I tried it anyway. To much dismay the dvd seemed to get stuck at the opening of the process. Can anyone help me with this burning issue.

What version of dvdfab are you using ? Dvdfab is updated to new 5.0.0.0 beta version.

disc is fresh out of box. plays in WMP and PS3. Lionsgate is the issue. Fengtao needs to get on his game.

Let's iron some things out.

Never underestimate the possibility of a bad press. Just because the movie plays, doesn't mean it will rip.

I've personally had a couple of movies that would play in multiple places, including both pc's, yet not rip.

Is PathPlayer enabled? If so, try disabling it and go again. If that doesn't work, exchange and retry with a new copy.

It probably is a bad press. I bought the ultimate editions of the first 3 movies in november, I think, and had no problem ripping or burning all of them with an older version of dvdfab platinum.

It seems like you have it all figured out. Make sure you are using dvdfab HD decrypter, not the plain dvdfab decrypter.

old movie....... re released doesn't have new encryptions! which means it should rip just fine using old or newer versions of software! If it's not ripping then it's the disk not being able to read with drive. Like

Thanks Ivan.

I see stuff like this way too much. And not just here at aD but at some of the other places i lurk too. You get some nOOb who's got a problem or seeking advice, which is freely given by people who know what they're talking about, and it's blown off by the guy asking the question who very suddenly is under the impression they already know what the problem is.

i.e. trying to blame FengTao and/or make it seem like the people trying to help don't know what they're talking about.

@7TH........I don't mean to go off topic...... and maybe this should be a thread in safty valve but....... ok....... I have been put off many times because of nubies knowing it all and then commenting "it can't possibly be my media" or "it worked before I updated windows, why doesn't it work now?" or "I know better than you do because I have been doing this for a WHOLE YEAR!!!!" There are so many people who know more than I do I really don't know why I stick around here and try to help people...... that's why I hardly comment anymore. It's just so many times you can advise people how to... and then you get burned out doing it..... BECAUSE THEY KNOW BEFORE THEY ASK!!! how nice. Sooooooo now that I vented....... I can go under my rock again and hide out till I find someone else that knows more than I do AGAIN!!!LOL

Or Original Poster. The person who initiated the thread.

@IHoe
Believe me brother, i know (as i'm sure many of us do) exactly what you mean. And like i said, it's the same in a couple of the other places i frequent. It's a shame when by trying to be helpful, on our own time mind you, our intelligence is insulted by those we seek to help.

Can i share your rock?

I don't normally post but this remark made me jump on. So I offer this from someone who has been at the bottom, asked questions and now am a goto guy for lots of IT and wireless phone issues.

Remember, you had to start somewhere, and it sure wasn't the top.

I've been around these boards for years. Just "leaching" for info, posting once in a blue moon. But it's always amazing and not just on this board, of the premadonnas who can't get past themselves forgetting the first time they signed up, 1st time they posted. Not trying to be mean guys but it's one thing to respect those who are in the know. It's another thing to feel your above approach. If you "feel the pain brother".. I'm sure this board would survive without you.

@rvlikens.........I think you misinterpreted what I was trying to convey! I am not put off from NEWBIES who have no knowledge and ask questions to gain the knowledge! What I am put off are the Newbies who ask questions, get answers from members who do know a thing or two, and then DISMISS the answers by saying things like "it worked before" or "I don't think that IS the answer"! Opinions are fine.... but if you ask questions and then don't like the answers that will solve your problem.... THEN DON'T ASK FOR HELP!

Quote:

this is not the case at all and you definitely misinterpreted my meaning. It's the people who ask the questions and then dismiss the answers! or don't even try the answers and just dismiss it! "oh it most certainly CAN NOT BE THE MEDIA used because it's always worked before!" this is a wayyyyyyy common problem.... because many brands outsource their products to many manufacturers to make their brand of disks.... so in a spindle you can get 3 different manufacturers with the same brand of disks and it just takes one manufacturer to make crappy media that ruins half the spindle and then you say, "why did this happen when it worked before, or most of the time?" These Newbies are the ones that I am complaining about. And don't kill the messenger! I have been flamed for giving out advice and then found out that the advice was correct and yet I got no apology from the Newbie... but i must say that the mods know exactly what I am talking about. I might be burned out a little giving advice but I hang in there BECAUSE I know what it was to be a NEWBIE and in need of answers! that's what AfterDawn is all about. So I try to make the best of things and just answer a few questions and not put myself out there as much as I used to.

I hope I explained myself a little better than before. Sorry for venting.

I was thinking that he might have had the January 2008 dvd release of this movie.

@IHOE- i completely agree with you 100% regarding the side topic in this thread, nothing burns me more than when someone asks for your help, or advise then argues with you about the answer they recieve. Not too mention that it has been so long since a new release gave any big challenges... I think I'm bored. We need a new Saw release or something.

I think that the industry realizes that any new encryptions that they put on their DVDs will be broken! something new will come out to prevent copying. Then we will all scramble to find a way to circumvent their new protection. So while it lasts, enjoy the freedom to copy your DVDs. I predict something will come along to break this freedom sooner or later!

I've also been waiting on a new challenge.

@res2cue
I think we've all had to deal with that at some point if we're out there trying to help. I think the blank media issue is where i see it most.

Sometimes it's the drive that you're reading with. I keep an old Panasonic LFD521 in an external case for the difficult discs that the two drives in my desktop won't read all the way through - this includes brand new discs (press errors).

Sometimes it's NOT the software....
