I'm trying to turn a back up coppy into DIVX

I'm trying to turn a back up copy of a dvd to divx format so I can load it into my Archos so I can watch it on the go or on the laptop. The issue I'm finding is on my back up I can't find the audio file. There is a Audio folder but it's blank. I'm using DVDXCOPY to back up the dvds.

The audio is with the Video in the same File which should be a VOB file if it was extracted it from a DVD...

Yes that I understand. Now how do I get the audio out of the VOB? Do I have to use DVD to AVI to seperate the audio from the video?

You can Just Simply Demux the VOB file into it"s seperate streams ,Or you could have done that when you were ripping the DVD because most Rippers have the Option to Demux Video and audio Streams to seperate files...You can Use DVD2AVI to Demux the audio But you will Still end up with a VOB file with the audio still in it and the seperate audio file(s) instead of a M2V file and a AC3 audio file....
