So I bought a wireless laser mouse. That wouldnt work on my computer (vista 32bit) so I bought bluetooth mouse in hopes that would work. but no. it connects, but doesnt move the pointer. anyone have any idea of a registry or something that needs to be deleted?
also when it connects it wants to install drivers that do not exist, so the task fails, and the mouse is left as a brick.

yeah thats the mouse sammorris, and everyone else.
its weird because i used to have a retractable usb targus notebook mouse. that worked, but then stopped working. it doesnt do anything, it asks to install drivers, but none are available. so i would say its not a mouse issue, but something with the computer.
im just puzzled at what the issue could be. ive contacted microsoft but they are not much help...
thanks for the help

There's something a bit funny going on with plug-and-play with your OS then, I wouldn't say it's rhe fault with either mouse.

after spending over an hour with 3 different tech support people from Sony (makers of my laptop) I got the furthest with the first one. However they werent much help. The first guy had me uninstall my usb drivers from the device manager. When I restarted the computer my old usb mouse was working. But as soon as the usb drivers started to finish installing, the mouse quit working again.
Anyone have any new ideas?

it better be legit, it came on it when i bought it. haha
i guess i will just have to wait until thursday when i can have some more time to spend talking with the idiot tech support people. i talked to 3 of them and each of them asked me the same series of questions... does any other usb device work? did you try in safe mode? did you try a system restore?
the answer is yes.
