I don't want to beat a dead horse but I need to consolidate the knowledge I've seen about how to compress this game (as it is there are too many methods and all of them seem to have mixed results).

I don't care how complex it is: is there a way to sufficiently downsize this game to DVD5? I've tried GnIE's ExPert tool and that didn't do it (the game just flips over to a black screen on startup).

This website states that rebuidling an ISO will make it smaller, preferrably under 4.7 GBs. Even though it might do that, it still does not garuntee that the ISO will be able to boot up. I have tried nearly all recommended methods of rebuilding an ISO, I have taken out and even have replaced dummy files, but the ISOs I burn never work. There a sticky at the top of this forum, that uses MGS Substance as an example, following that method should help you out in some form, shape, or fashion.

Have you been to alucard.cc forums and tried the MGS Substance ripkit tutorial found there?
