I have been trying to backup Gladiator-Signature Collection for the past 2 days and have come away with 4 coasters so far. I have tried ripping with Shrink, old version and then burning with nero, no good. Then i tried a newer version and tried to rip and burn through Shrink 3.1 and it finished properly, but it will not read in my dvd player or even my PC this time. I tried writing the video_ts file with Instant Copy even, and all that gave me was the files on the cd, which i could read in my PC if i put PowerDVD into file mode, but it didn;t recognize it as a DVD movie. Any suggestions? Am using LG 4040B with Maxell 4X DVD-R. Thanks.

Don't know if it will help, but first download the newest version of DVD Shrink, version 3.1 and 3.1.1 had some bugs which are now fixed in 3.1.2

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

If the movie does not work on the pc with PowerDVD after the ripping and compressing, then there's something wrong with that process. Only burn the DVD:s if you have first tried that the files work properly on your pc first. If your burning process is ok, then you won't make any unneccessary coaster by first checking the files with PowerDVD.
If the files work on pc, but not on the burnt DVD, then you have a problem with the burning procedure or with the media you are using.

Hope you get your problem fixed. I don't think it is a movie related issue though, since I had no problems with that specific movie.

Gladiator was no problem to back up using Dvddecrypter,DVD2One and Nero,the only problem I had was that whenever possible I like to select both audio files 5.1,and DTS but this movie is very long and for that reason I was only able to select one audio file . I like to have the option of both, but I can't complain,the quality is great! I see you're using shrink,I've been lucky enough to be able to back-up every single movie I've tried using these programs, but everyone has their preference,I've seen many members that have both and on occasion one works better than the other. Good luck!

It's really weird, the movie plays fine in PowerDVD - File mode, but every time i use Nero to write it, i get an error at the end when it is trying to lead-out, it says there was a error. This is what the log recorded.

It keeps giving me the same error. I have tried decoding it a few times, different ways each time, sometimes with DTS, sometimes with DD5.1, but nothing works.

These are the softwares I use and works everytime;

1. DVD Decrypter = Extract Only Movie

2. IFO Edit = Extract everything except movie

3. Pinnacle Instant Copy cd/dvd = Take the finished movie that is over 5 Gigs and fit it into a 4.7 Gig DVD with no lose in picture quality.

Phenix316,

This sounds like you're trying to burn too much stuff on one disc. How large is the VIDEO_TS folder that contains your movie? I've read somewhere that Nero might not be able to finalize the disc if the data folders are too large. This problem might be the case here.
If so, make sure that the size of the compressed movie is less that 4.38G, better make it more like 4.35, just in case. So in DVD Shrink, set the output folder size to say 4,389 MB (which is less than 4.38G, but just to be on the safe side). Then check the movie and it's quality with PowerDVD and if it works, burn it.

But.... if the folder size is already smaller than the number I mentioned, then you have a problem either with the media, or with Nero. I suppose the Maxell DVD:s are pretty good, and if they have worked for you earlier, try using another burning tool.
I myself use ImgTool (download it here http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/imgtool_classic.cfm) to create an image of the movie folder (the folder that contains the VIDEO_TS folder) and then it automatically opens DVD Decrypter (you need the newest version though) and burns the movie in ISO->write mode. It's very simple to use and both are free, and it hasn't failed me once!

Hope you get your problem fixed now.
