i have been reading through all the posts on this subject.
i wrote this whole thing before i found the thread about inability to unlock net10 phones. i will leave the info below just in case there is a way, but i need to know where i can get oem software for this phone and exactly what cable to use and what port on my laptop (?USB to what--i may have the cable needed) i can use it with. please, if you know this info, be very descriptive!
here is the original text before i found out no unlocking net10....
i just wanted to be sure i was using the right procedure for my phone. i see others want to do the same thing but there are little differences like country of origin or what service it is locked to.
some info that may help others: i bought the 1600 because it can charge the battery for my nokia 6102i. the original charger for the 6102i is broken--the 1600 battery also works in my 6102i, except it is just a bit thicker than the original, so i am not able to secure the battery cover, but it works beautifully in a pinch. the 1600 with battery and charger was the same price as a radio shack brand charger, so i opted for the 1600 w/battery and charger. i switch out the batteries and charge the 6102i battery in the 1600 while i use my 6102i (carefully) with the 1600 battery. charges fast, too.

no codes have been tried at all. i figured i would do it right the first time by asking someone who knows.
please tell me if the code that flashes that i need to write down, how many digits am i looking for? i was going to snap a pic of it. is it a code i will ever need again after the unlock?
my final question is this. will this procedure AND numerical unlock sequence you give me work for everyone with a 1600 b/usa/net10 or is the sequence dependant on the imei #--making it different for each phone? (i suppose the procedure is the same, but the numbers different). it is a help for the rest of us to know so we don't post when the answer is here, or so we don;t try something that will master lock the phone forever!
i hope this post and the answers will help anyone who needs a 1600 b (like mine) unlocked
and before you advise me about inability to unlock a net10 1600, read the begining of my post! thanks for your patience.
