i just got the new version of imgburn and it has were you can set the read speed , default is max for data and 8 x for audio . i was just wondering if that is ok or should it be reading the disc at a slower speed . i know you burn at a slower speed for best quality and i didn't know if that applies to the read speed as we'll , should i set the read speed to maybe a 4 x or 8 x . is max ok to use , it seems to be reading at around 12- 14 x when making a iso image . just wanted to make sure that i am reading the disc at the right speed so no quality is lost . i burn at a 4x or 8x . thanks
okay , thank you zosoiv , i appericate the quick response . i am backing up a bunch of dvd+r that i got with fan footage on them and i was worried about if i read them to fast that i could loose quality . i think imgburn is the best app for that , but i am use to using my old system of dvd decrypter to put the disc on my hd and then burn thru dvd shrink . do you recommend one way over another or is imgburn my best opition . thanks

Imgburn is still being updated whereas DVDD will see no more support so I would use it. Even though it doesn't have the ripping abilities is it far more advanced in the other areas than DVDD was when development was stopped.
As for the read speed, it is there in case you see errors or are having trouble reading the source disc. You can turn the speed down to give the drive a better chance at reading the data without errors.

dvd shrink uses nero for the final burning process , i have nero 6.6.0.18 , but i will use imgburn from now on thanks to the good advice from fellow users . thanks
