Well I have to get a new CPU Heatsink/fan for my computer. I have an Asus M2N32 WS Professional Motherboard (AM2). I have been using a Thermaltake CL-P0310 for 13 months now, but this morning I had a little problem. I came to use my computer and it was off. I tried turning it on and it shut off again after a few seconds. I opened the case and heatsink wasn't secured. After some investigation I found out that it snapped one of the plastic clips from the motherboard. I am getting a new piece from Asus, but I don't want to use this anymore. I think it is just too heavy.
So I am looking for a good heatsink, but one that is not as big or heavy as this beast. Thanks in advance for the help.

Zalman CNPS 9700 AM2
It IS heavy but has a very sturdy backplate which should take all the pressure off the socket.
Hope this helps!

Well it seems from the reviews that the backplate is only used with Intel Processors. AMD still use the massive clip. This is what broke my Mother board already. If I am going to have to stick with the same style clip then I need to go with something that weighs less.
Thermaltake 822g 16-24db
Zalman 764g 19.5-35db
I still need to lose some weight. Anyone else have any suggestions.

I was looking at the Freezer, because I saw several people mention the Freezer 7's with Intel. The price is nice too. I know I can get the wifey to let me spend $25.
Thanks for the help everyone. I love AD.

do you understand how heapipes work?
the pipes have a gas/liquid in them and if you puncture the pipe with an overzealous lap its worthless.
you do realise that this blower urinates from a great height all over your zalmans? and it costs less and weighs less and its easier to fit.
frezzer pro was the bang per buck king but now its this, do some reading first before you post again mate.

But I also doubt that you are gonna puncture the heatsink just by lapping, you would need to work really hard at it for it to get punctured....
I mean even 2mm is a lot to sand off with anything above 600 grit and you won't be staying long on 600 grit anyways.
That said, it wont be a problem to lap it.

lol sry m8 that might of come off a bit harsh, and wasnt ment that way at all.
i think you could get away with lapping it ever so slightly but i would imagine the gains would be so small that it would be pointless and your time could be better spent re-routing yuor wires. as for the thinkness of the pipe walls, i would geuss that they are around 1mm (6mm pipes) and that will be less around the bends. these bends will also be weaker due to the bending process, now even a slight decrese in thickness in these areas could mean that a slight ammount of preasure would puncture or crack the pipe turning it into a nice paper weight.
freezer pro is a great cooler and it was almost criminal at the price it was last year not to get one (i have 1 upstairs on my old machine) but time moves on and for very little cash today you get a better cooling sollution.
