How do I go about adding ram to a desktop computer?

I took it to a shop, because it was so slow, and they did not have any so I'll order it just need some insight on how to correctly instal the added ram.

You do realise you can't just add 'some RAM' right? There are different types, and you need to know what'll fit, but once you know it's as easy as popping the side off, flicking two tabs back then slotting it in.
