For some reason NesterJ 11 will not run some games. Castlevania 2 and 3 start up with grey screens and stay that way, and Tetris has corupted graphics that correct themselves, but then freezes a the title screen. Is this normal, or do I have bad ROMs? These ROMs have worked on various PC emulators as well as one for the NDS, so I figured they would be fine. I would try running them on NesterJ 1.20, but I cant get the program to even start.
pc emus such as nesterj and snesx are emus being ran on psp, that are barely being set to their full potential. For instance creator of tyl was saying that the n64 psp emu will probably be running better than the snes emu in months to come. Since the roms are not corrupted, what is your psps info? that way I can try to see if there has been problems in the past.
I am using a PSP slim with 3.80 M33-5 firmware. I am unsure whether I have the 1.50 kernel actually, so I am looking into that. I do have a GAME150 directory on my memstick, but I don't know if its used by anything or what.
I don't think you need the 1.5 kernel, because slim homebrew is suppose to be only compatible for the slim, that why there still isn't so many apps for slim (at least compared to the phatty). Yeah the GAME150 is just there so it can fake out the psp, you don't really use it at all.
I've also been a little displeased with the progress on the emulators. Granted good work has been done, but most apps seem like lame ports of pc emulators. The same thing can be said though for almost all of the other hacked hardware from what I can tell.
I on the other hand am thankful. As a C++ programmer know that porting pc emus-- making them compatible for the psp is very time consuming and difficult. snestyl for instance is really hard to port, harder than n64. Id quit the pessimism brua
I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with NesterJ or not. I am quite impressed with all that has been done thus far, although it seems like the emulator community for the PSP has died off. Thanks all for your replies. Oh and yeah, I looked and Slim doesnt need the kernel. I was unaware of the whole incompatibility between phat and slim homebrew stuff until now though, and thats good information to have.
