I just softmoded my xbox with SID5 used SC Original: chose dualboot-standard.
Softmod installed, no problems. UnleashX at Dash.
FTP'ed MA Platinum with CraXation4. Iso with Craxation4. Burned with Imageburn/DVD Decrypter used Verbatim DVD+R. Xbox won't read. I tried Scary Movie 3 to test for DVD, it Loaded but the screen stayed blank. Did the same with MGSS, used HP DVD+R DL, didn't work. I have two questions.
What am I doing wrong?
What games will NOT WORK with SID5? I heard some games mess up the softmod?

NO.. it's the disks you are using.. Most xbox drives really really don't like +R disks.. as for +RW.. 1 in 100 on a very good samsung drive, with lots of crashing and glitching....

Use good quality dvd-R 8x.. and stop using craxtion.. It's for making homebrew and multi game disks..and it makes those buggy unless you know exactly what you want to achieve, and have patched the xbe to remove the media checks first..
For plain backups use cloneXB,(google.. it's freeware) then burn to -R disks at 4x and like magic your troubles will vanish.

Any idea why the retail DVD movies won't play. Do I need to install more software in the Xbox?

Have you installed the dvd playing software?, and made sure the path is right in your dash.ini file? If both are correct then it needs investigating.

please note.. that is a chip version.. but the dvdX should be somewhere similar.
FTP and edit your file with a simple editor like notepad.. word is not good.
