Original DVD not working after ripped

I am new to this ripping thing and could use some help!

I ripped one of my DVDs using DVD Decrypter. The ripped version consists only of video..no audio...and now the original DVD only has audio and no video...

Like I said I am not so experienced with this stuff...if anyone could give some advice as to what I might have done wrong it would be greatly appreciated..

Are you saying that the original DVD, will not playback in a standalone DVD player or that there is a problem playing back on the PC?

Use free software 'DVDFab HD Decrypter' to rip disks.
The old 'DVD Decrypter' has not been updated for years - however ripping a DVD does not harm the disk.

attar- Thanks for the tip..I'll download that program. It won't play on my PC anymore with any of the players I have. All I get is the audio track...no picture.

A manufactured disc should play on any stand alone player. As far as not playing on your pc, then maybe your drive is on the fritz. Please see if the origional disc can play on another pc. Also make sure the optical side is clean (no smudges or gunk)

Just to clear this up, ripping information from a pressed (commercial) dvd or a burned dvd does not affect the information on said disc.

and if you're having trouble playing your store bought DVD on your computer using Windows Media Player, Real Player or any other program you use to view DVDs...... just make sure that your program has setting that plays media files:




go to TOOLS/OPTIONS/FILE TYPES/SELECT ALL/OK
Then try again to play the disk. Hope this helps.

Are you certain that you haven't killed some video codecs?

If it plays on a standalone: You've corrupted something. If the audio portion plays - the DVD drive should be okay.

You didn't install something like K-Lite codec pack?

You may want to go ask the same question at videohelp.com
