Just wondering, I'm planning on purchasing a spindle of dual layer and since they're not exactly cheap i would like to know which one is better before i jump in and just grab watever off the shelf. I am burning games for wii and just backing up movies, should I get a +R dual layer or -R, is there any brands that are better?

Verbatim. And stay away from Memorex, even though they are way cheaper than Verbs.

No doubt stick with the Verbies for DL blank media. The cost difference is well worth it in the end.

Plus format Made in Singapore Verbatim!!! Beware of the rest.

Booktype them to dvd-rom if your dvd-rw drive has that capability.

i don't think you will need to use a DVD+R DL to backup wii games save you're money and buy DVD-/+R SL instead.

there are other options other than using expensive DVD+R DL media .being it cost 1.50 to 1.80 each compared to a DVD-/+R SL blank that cost about 25 cents each.

Options

1. doing the movie only cutting out the previews/extras etc.keeping the compression at 75% or better won't hurt picture quality playback
2. use an encoder like DVD Rebuilder. takes longer but you get almost a perfect quality playback on a DVD-/+R SL blank using it.

best DVD-/+R SL media is

1. Taiyo Yuden
2. Verbatim
3. Sony

and keep your burn speed at 6x to 8x max using DVD-/+R SL media and 2.4x to 4x max using DVD+R DL media.and definitely use DVD+R DL media if you're going that route

NO cmc mag which can be many brands like TDK,HP,Memorex,Phillips etc. don't use them
