I have 2 recorders, a Panasonic ES15 & Lite-On 1107. My +RW discs have become unrecordable on the LiteOn one by one lately. I tried reformatting them in the Panni. Did not help. Is that formatting causing the problem? What is the remedy?

I think what is happing is that the burner in your Liteon is starting to fail. This happens a lot in the drives that come with the Liteons. They can be replaced with a DVD burner that you would put in your PC. I have replaced a number of them and they work great.

Good luck.

Take the disks to a PC and with Nero. D o a FULLl erase on them DO NOT Format the disks with Nero of format them except in the unit to be used in The ilo recorder should recognize them as a Blank Disk and Prepare/Format them.

The Panny I belive uses a different format than the liteon using the same disk in both may confuse either

Also do not Partial erase the RW disk. Record on them and do a complete erese in the unit used in

Correct the liteon unit could have a failing DVD drive but I would try the above first. Its free and wont hert anything

A PC drive newer than a liteon 1693s will not have a fast forward function and will lock up if used

During the weekend I find a way to revive the +WR disc to record in the LiteOn. I recorded a short title on the Panny. to check if the disc is OK. Then I put the disc in the LiteOn and erase it. After that I was able to record with the LiteOn. I repeated that with another disc and confirmed it true. Problem seem to be solved, but no logic to it.

When you erased the disk in the liteon this also formatted the disk for the liteon

Going back to my orig post by using the disks in both the Panny and liteon yor are most likely confusing the recorders and disks

I would nor use the sane RW disks in both, especially if only adding to an already partially filled disk.

EDIT
You were Lucky this tine

The alternating was not on purpose. I only use the older LiteOn when I need to copy from one recorder to the other. And since the Panny is the only one that can handle RAM discs, I'm forced to use the Lite-on as the recording receiver. That's when I encounter the "cannot record" issue. Now I know better. Problem solved.

Glad you have the poblem solved and all is working for you

Working with disks can always be a pain Ilike the liteon units they seem to do a very good job recording but the DVD drives have had thier problems.

I have for myself 11 liteon/ilo unit. All have replacement PC drives They sem much more adaptable to a replacement that many oher units.

Using a drive over the liteon 1693s will cause the unit to lose the and lock up if use the FF function. However if you don't care about the FF function there are many drives that can be used

While the may speak to the ilo
The ilo is a liteon and most all the info on them is relevevt to the liteon
