compressing .nrg files and receving an error through dvd shrink.

I had some movies I wanted to backup on dvd but at the time I had no idea of compression or programs such as dvdshrink or dvdxcopy. so instead I saved them directly to my hard drive as .NRG files.

I recently tried to open them on dvdshrink to compression and then burn to DVD but I received a error message telling me it had failed to open the file. Is there any other program that will compress and burn .NRG files to dvds? If not, is there a way I can convert these files into a different format that would allow me to use dvdshrink or one of the other compression programs listed here.

See if 'nrg2iso' helps, then open the iso in DVD Shrink.

File > Open Disc Image

I converted the .nrg to .iso and Im stilling getting a error when trying to open the files in dvd shrink. Could the files be corrupt?

I don't have Nero installed at the moment, but I think if you run the likes of Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%, they will let you mount the image on a virtual drive so can can use DVD Shrink on it.

problem after problem. So I mounted the disc image with alcohol 120% and then ran dvd shrink only to receive a runtime error. What would be the problem here? any other suggestions? What other compression programs are as good as dvd shrink?

Does the movie playback ok from the virtual drive?
