I have read in several places that the quality of CD-R/DVD-R media can put strain on the laser if it is of low quality. Is this actually true? If so, what kind of media effects this the most? For example, I have Memorex "Cool Colors" disks which have multi-colored bottoms. Whould this be bad for the laser?

Thanks in advance!

There is a possibility that I could be either slightly or majority incorrect on this, so please correct me anyone.

High quality media reflects the laser more, so I am guessing this is why darker dyes are more reliable.
