Hi, new to the forums. I would like to start out by apologizing if I happen to have made a copy of a thread that already addresses this issue. I did a search, but found no evidence of one existing. My problem is rather simple, yet appears to be rather difficult to solve.
I've been doing some video editing (yes, I know this is the audio thread - I'm getting to it). My project is to take a bunch of small avi's and join them together with VDubMod. VDubMod, however, because of framerate issues, is unable to effectively append the files. Therefore, I've been re-encoding the files (audio and video) to get them to join. Now, to my question: I stripped away the audio from a video file using VDubMod, resulting in an mp3 that is exactly 5:19 in length. The file is a 128kbps, joint stereo, 48000 Hz - nothing special. This is what's strange: every time I open the file in an audio/video player, whether it's VLC, Windows Media, WinAmp, it reads as being 5:19 in length. Whenever I open it in Wavepad, however, it shows it as being 5:17 in length. I re-encode the file, insert it into the video in VDubMod and everything is fine...for about 4 minutes, and then the audio/video desynchronizes by 2 seconds. I tried using Audacity with the same effect. I even used Total-Video-Converter and it still gave me a 5:17 mp3. So, what do I need to do in order to get these audio editors to realize the file is actually 5:19 and not 5:17? Or is there another method where I can get the audio file I need without re-encoding it?
Oh, and I forgot to mention: I'm saving the file as a 128kbps CBR Stereo mp3 (not Joint stereo or else VDubMod refuses to use it).
Thanks in advance for all your help - I've been silently using AfterDawn for years, this is just the first actual time I haven't been able to find a solution without asking someone. Thanks again!
