DVD Menu Return

I'm going nuts trying to get a DVD menu to work - maybe someone can help. I recently upgraded to a 16:9 digital video (JVC) camera that records in .mod format. I have found Cyberlink SW (both PowerProducer 5 and PowerDirector 6) very easy to use - except once the DVD starts playing I cannot return to the root disk menu. The menu works fine when the DVD is first loaded, but I can never return to it. I tried it in an alternate DVD player and got the same result. Help before I go postal :-)

If you tried on a difference player and still won't let you return to menu, then it means that the problem is with the authoring of the DVD. I suggest use a different dvd authoring program to construct the DVD and menus, such... I have used 1 by Sonic before.
