Recently found the guide on how to 'Convert MKV to AVCHD for PS3 and Blu-ray,' and I managed to convert a movie in MKV format and burn it to a DVD using TsMuxer and ImgBurn for playing on my bluray player.

I also have several hi-def movies in AVI format which TsMuxer doesn't seem to be able to convert. After checking around for an hour I could only find info on converting from AVI to MKV, not the other way around. Is there a way to convert the AVI container to the MKV container or another format TsMuxer can convert or even from AVI directly to AVCHD to burn w/ ImgBurn while keeping the same quality of the orignal AVI?

At the moment I'm using Magic Video Converter 8.0.2.18 to convert the AVI to AAC which is listed as a format that TsMuxer can convert but it's saying it's going to take about 5 hours. There's gotta be a better way.

Thanks for any help,
Matt

For reference I'm listing the info on the video file that I got from GSpot v2.70a:

I've never used GSpot so I cannot tell what the codec is, your post lists several. If you have an avi it is most likely XviD, the PS3 should be able to play that file as is.

BTW, I use Media Info Raw to detect the specs of a movie file I have.

If not I'd use AviSynth with MeGUI to recode the codec to h264 so that tsMuxeR can process the file. You also asked is there a way to go from avi-->mkv... use a program called AVImuxGUI. There is no recoding involved, it takes the contents of the avi and muxes them to mkvm that's just one of the many features of this useful proram.

Read through this thread, it might be helpful.
