I did have a chipped xbox with Slayers Evox and a Duo X2 modchip - the soldering came apart (wasn't a very good job) so I got my friend to open it up and attempt to re-solder, we bought a de-soldering solder sucker tool and fine tip solder - the previous job has been done so badly we can't remove the solder - scratching, solder sucking, compressed air, NOTHING will get rid of it as it has been soldered to the other side of the board (D0 point) I've been trying all night and I'm just going to leave it, my xbox HDD has Slayers Evox with all my files I want to fix my xbox and get them back, I'm wanting to do a soft-mod where would I start from here with the state my xbox is in and I'm not interested in buying more solder equipment to do a hard modchip install - is there any other options such as a alternative D0 point or performing a hot-swap? Please help me out.

d0 points are on the top and bottom of the board.

If you search eeprom reader you can restore your xbox back to factory or complete a softmod.

Did you back up your eeprom? This is the main file you need in order to recover your xbox. You can't re-solder anymore onto that main board don't attempt to do so, you'll damage your xbox permanently. Your only option is a softmod. Click on my sig, here is everything that will help you to revive your xbox, software tutorial everything about xbox softmodding is there. If you don't have your eeprom backed up on your PC, it also instructs you how to create an eeprom reader. A simple device that copies the contents of the eeprom chip helping you create the .bin file.

Ok thanks, but how do I get my games and movies on my xbox first, I dont have and dont need my HDD key as my HDD is a upgraded one and is not locked, so where do I start with a hot-swap (I dont want to do the game expolit one) and do I need to restore M$ dash first or can I back up then use NDURE 3.0 or something (I just got NDURE 3.0 is this right)

alright dorris there's something you don't understand.

Softmods are the stock xbox bios which needs a locked hard drive to unlock to load the dash.

Hardmods are a aftermarket bios (mod chip or bios flash)- they give you the option to boot without the hard drive locked.

So if you are taking off your mod chip you are going to need your eeprom to lock the drive you have so it will work properly. Pretty much i would just lock the drive and see if it boots. It should boot because it already has the dash, games and everything you want on it. If it doesn't work then you are going to have to mod it with a simple softmod installer telling it where to look for your dashboard.

Tell us if you have any problems, but don't go replacing the dash just yet.

Ok, I have taken off my modchip, I'm planning to soft-mod how can I do this, my HDD is un-locked I think, how would I lock it and where do I start with the softmod?

Do you have the eeprom.bin file? All stock and softmodded xbox require the hard drives be locked. You can't softmod nor restore your box back to stock until you acquire the eeprom.bin from the eeprom chip. Every xbox has a unique eemprom, you can't make one up an attempt to lock the drive. It won't work, the hard drive and the xbox are joined by the contents of the eeprom chip. If you don't have this file, you will need to create an EEPROM reader or purchase one from ebay. Rule number 1 for all of us xbox modders, always create an eeprom.bin backup somewhere burnt on a disc or on any storage device. As others have stated before, you could re-lock the drive by using a mod chip but in the state your board is in you can?t do nothing about it because you could seriously damage you xbox or find someone who professionally solders and have them hardmod your xbox for you. Your options are very limited and at this point your only hope is a eeprom reader.
