hi, my 600gb external hard drive kept asking me to reformat it after a power failure. i have not reformat it yet, but is there a possible way to recover all my data??

Have you tried the chckdsk C:/f fix yet. Whenever I have corrupted hard drives because I improperly shutdown the computer, chkdsk can usually fix it.

If that doesn't work, use the free "testdisk" to try and fix it, or at least recover the data for you.

thanks very much jony.... the chkdsk doesn't work, but it was because it's an external hard drive... but the testdisk works like a charm...

it was because the boot sector... or somthin' doesn't match up...
