ok thats good. you have a DDR2 mobo, and with a newish mobo.

the onyl thing i need now is to know, when you take your sidepanel off to look inside, when facing it head on, do you take off the right panel or the left?

OK when the pc is facing me (the power, reset, and cd drives are what i am looking at), then the right pannel comes off. Also I just ordered this video card, i was quite positive that it is compatable with my CURRENT mobo, do you know off the top of your head if it is?
link to video card :

I am not sure if I have PCI express 2.0 , that is what i am worried about.

ya I just found that out, i talked to dell. So I guess my motherboard should have a PCI express 2.0 then heh. I am not sure how to find my rails and amps, and i dont know what the PCU is, ill look it up, but if you see this before i find an answer it would be great if you could tell me where to get that info. I should be thanking you for putting all this effort in thank u! :)

actually, your mobo wont be PCIE2.0 but the 8800GT is backwards compatible. :D

and the PSU is the power supply unit.

on it, you should be able to see the information.

you will need a new case for a new mobo (motherboard)

and check if your PSU has a 6pin connector on it.

well my budget I guess I would like to keep it under $300 or $400, and buying refurbished stuff is no biggie for me. I just talked to dell and they said this : The following processors are compatible with your computer motherboard:
Intel® Pentium® 4
Intel Pentium D
Intel Core? 2 Duo
Intel Celeron® D

Not too much to work with but, I just want something that will support my graphics card nicely. So do you have any ideas?

i cant remember if the PSU came with instructions.

basically, you just take of the heatsink/fan of the old CPU, and then take off the Lever, and the metal door over the CPU. then add in the new one and reverse the other of the steps, putting the new HS/Fan (from the new CPU box) ontop.

for PSU, pull out all the old cables, unsrcew it.

screw in the new one, and put in the cables.

not hard at all :D
