I purchased the USBExtreme disks, thinking that's all I'd need to run PS2 games off an HDD.
I have a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 hooked up via generic USB enclosure with external power (IDE -> USB). The drive is currently split into 3 partitions (letters), and I would really like to avoid combining them all into one, or at the very least be 100% positive in that being the solution. The drive is fully readable on my PC, and I've installed uLaunch to each partition using the Usbextreme app.
Currently, when I plug my drive in, it is not recognized (with games on it, installed using the software from hdadvance's site).
My USB drive is being recognized, but it's a spin drive (meaning it's like a mini HDD, and needs power to run). The little LED on it lights up, blinks like its transmitting data, and the games installed actually show up properly on the list.
However, whenever I select a game to launch it, the screen goes black and stays black for about 2 minutes before I finally give up.
you cannot use separate partitions. each game you load on the hdd will be a separate partition when loaded.
you have to reformat the hdd with winhiip, and start fresh, to avoid further complications.
also, usbextreme has weak compatability game list. you have to mess with the settings in usbextreme for each game. if they don't work, then it's incompatable with usbexteme, period.
Okay, so the drive absolutely has to be a single partition, and that will get compatible games working?
If this is the case, can I boot from the game list screen there using uLaunch, Gameshark, Action Replay, or some other program to get incompatible games to run?
