Hi all,
Need some help here. Using eMachines T6542(souped-up)version, with Nero Ultra 7 burning software. Currently using the stock CD/RW/DVD-ROM dual layer drive (believe it to be a Phillips DVD8801). Here is a link to the drive specs. I am not doing anything yet with DVD/Movies etc.; but would like to know what would be the BEST DVD media to purchase? I believe that this is a DVD-ROM only, and maybe I cannot even burn with it; but not sure. Maybe you can tell from the specs.
Thanks,
Jakeman97
The ad copy says that it's a writer and the logos suggest the same.
The best media is reckoned to be 'Taiyo Yuden' followed by 'Verbatim'.
In North America, Taiyo Yuden is only available from reputable mail order sources.
attar,
Thanks for the speedy reply and information. For convenience and availability here in North America I will go with the Verbatim. Can I also assume (ohh, there's that naughty word) that Verbatim will suffice for the CD-RW also? I've been using 'Office Depot' store brand for that.
Thanks again,
Jakeman97
For DVD media, Verbatim DVD-R.
For test burns, temporary files and recording on a DVD recorder, Staples DVD-RW or Maxell DVD-RW.
For CD's I use Maxell CD-R and for CD-RW I use TDK.
My own experience is that CD's are more forgiving than DVD media and I can't complain about any of the brand names that I have used - with the caveat that this does not apply to DVD disks.
