Newby here with a few questions.

I understand wii games need to be burned with imgburn or nero. Do I need a 'modded' wii to burn and play games I download from usenet? Do the disks need to be dual layer burned by a specific player?

Question 1. - burn, no (Wii doesn't burn games anyway); play - yes.

Question 2. - most games are single layer only a few (SSBB and maybe some other new titles) are dual layer. Any burner will work.

I am not interested in modding one myself. Where can I get one premodded? Thanks

You will pay a ridiculous markup for a pre-modded wii. Best bet is to check craigslist for a local mod installer or a used modded wii.

I found a website that will sell me a modded wii for 400+. Is this reasonable?

I can't tell you what is reasonable.

What I can tell you is what I paid.

Wii - $249.99 plus tax
Wiikey $ 30.00 shipped
Installation $80.00 (cut pins) same day service.

Ya I've paid:

Wii-$285 (sold out, had to buy from some guy)
D2CPro w/ Wii-Clip soldered-$70

Installation-Priceless

You should just go with the ones that go with the Wii-Clip, because they are solderless to the Wii, and only take about 3 min to install!

I got the Wii locally, with tax was about $270
Had it modded with WiiKey locally, $80

$400 shipped for a working modded Wii isn't too bad a price...
