i have firmware 3.71 M33-2 and am trying to play a psp iso on it. Where do i put the file on my psp to play it? and i know i can because my friends run this firmware and are playing the exact same game. Also what emulator should i use for PSX games?

Format your Memory stick in your PSP (backup anything you want to save first). Now connect it to your PC, and just drop your PSP iso's into the ISO folder in the root of the memory stick.
3.71 M33 has a built in PSX emulator, so you just need to convert the games to an eboot and away you go!
