i dont no what i need to buy not that much of a laptop person but my ibm thinkpad 600e powers up and works fine but when i take power lead out it dies so not sure if i need a cmos battery or a new main battery anyone know what i need???

you need a new main battery or get your existing one refurbished. the cmos battery only provides power to cmos chip not the pc.
