God of War 2 Burn Issue

I've been doing quite a bit of reading on AfterDawn on PS2 backups so don't think I'm walking into this blindly. And I can at least promise you I'm much smarter than 95% the "help me burn my ps2 game" threads.

I've got a SCPH-30001 PS2 using SwapMagic v2.0 and it will not play God of War 2. I know the SwapMagic disks and the PS2 work because they play Gran Turismo 4 fine.

GT4 is burned onto a crap 16x Playo DVD+R and it works great. I tried burning GoW2 onto the same disks and didn't have any luck so I picked up a 100-pack of Ritek RiData 16x DVD-R disks from Newegg. I'm using Roxio to burn the ISO images. I tried burning GoW2 onto the Ritek media today at 2.4x speed and had no luck. I did a bit of reading and found that DVD Decrypter seems to work better so I gave that a shot on GoW2 at 4x speed and it still does not work.

The God of War 2 rip is a single DVD5 disk. I'm assuming it was rebuilt from a DVD9 to a DVD5 because it was just a single disk when I downloaded it from a reliable source. There are plenty of comments on the source's page stating the rip works just fine.

Is this a common problem with God of War 2? Should I try a new rip? Is SwapMagic v2.0 too old to support God of War 2? I'm not sure what else to do at this point.

Yes I am afraid SM 2.0 is too old to play GOW 2

You can use your SM 2.0 to load SM 3.8 elf or DVD and then play it.

Then follow the Refresh the TOC size: in this manual to play the backup.

Or you can buy the newer SM 3.6 for about $25
