is there a way to transfer files between a laptop with xp and laptop with vista.

sorry, I didn't make it clear.
what I meant was to link the two laptops together with some sort of cable then transfer file between them and not use any use memory sticks or external hard drives.

could use a ethernet crossover cable or a male to male usb cable.
