bunnyrip- Thanx I've had pretty good results with the sony's myself ! both MIJ & MIT ! I pretty much stick with Verbatims, Sony & Officedepot in Branded /retail Media - Online mainline taiyo yuden & verbatims Hit works for me !!!! Thanx again Ciao!!!!!!!!

Same here Big Guy.I don't like online ordering though, so I stick with Made In Taiwan Verbatim DVD+R and Same with Sony. I DO have a few hundred Taiyo Yuden Made Sonys though.
( And a few MIJ Taiyo Yuden Fujis too!) Shhh....don't tell anybody.

bunnyrip- I hear you if it does'nt date me much ? I've got a few spindles of the MIJ fuji too & Mij maxells ! Heck I even have 100 4x Silver Shiny Verbatims somewheres down Deep in my Leaning Tower of media ! and some Taiyo Yuden 8x Valuelines that I bought About 2-3 years ago for christmas as well as the occasional spindle of sony MIJ Too ! Have'nt bought much Blank media lately But have been hitting The Budget Movie Bins at Big lots Heavy & ordering here and there !I try to buy my dvd movies online with Free shipping & Bogo or Low prices sales ! Lately Big lots stores are Pretty Flush with good Albeit Older Movie titles ! And at $3.00 ea. +tax you can afford more movies for the same price !!! Woks for me anyways ! I only order media online occasionally ! But Movies , electronics & other stuff Hey Whatever gets me more for my Dollar ya'know !!!!!!!!!! CiaO!!!

I still have a few 100 (MIJ's) Maxell's and Sony's pushed back myself. I miss the good old days... ;)

Yeah, you gotta save those really good discs for your own personal backups. The really good movies deserve the best media. I will say: Beware of the Made In India Verbatims. The New Packaging can easily fool you. Look at the labels before you buy. Made in Taiwan:> OK.
Made In India:> Might be OK. I don't take the chance.
I KNOW the MIT's are GOOD. I am unsure about the Made in India.
I have heard some bad reports about those.

My local Sears has a bunch of Maxell MIJ 4x DVD-R media on clearance. I did not jump on these immediately because I am used to using +Rs, which I book-type. Are these too good to pass up?
BTW, I found a lone spindle of Sony-branded 8x TY. Of course, I bought those, using Best Buy's ad to match prices. I suspect that this pack was the last one I will ever find, as I've been scoping these out everywhere I go and they are extinct. :(, sniff, tear.

Maxell DVD-R 4x (MXL RG02....)
Maxell DVD-R 4x (TYG01.......)-Which means if they code out as either of these two media codes you should be getting Maxell /hitachi 's = Made by maxell in japan or taiyo Yuden made in japan Either way good stuff assuming your Burners are compatable with the Older / 4X media ? Hope that helps answer your question ?

I got some of those dash shiny verbs in an ebay auction that came bundled with one of my Benq 1640's.Yours shouldn't be fakes.
They have a mirror look to them,but nothing special for that price. Some people would probably slap a sticker label on them,but I labeled it with a sharpie.
You can find them at meritline.com,supermediastore.com,and rima.com. Sometimes you can get the same thing with taiyo yudens for under 25 cents each.Both Ty and Verbatim use Advanced Metal AZO dye.
bunnyrip: I'll attest to the MIT sony being some very fine media. I used to rate them around ricohjpn,but now they seem superior to ricohjpn media. I wouldn't burn them over 8x though.

Matter of fact I burn those Sony MIJ's at 8x with Perfect results. I could burn them at 12x. But I burn them at 8x. Which BTW is their "rated speed". They are sooo nice!

Those will be the CMC Mag M01 variety of the Maxell 16x +R's then, i have many many 100's of them, have burned/watched quite a few 100 of them, they work great

Microcenter has Verbs on sale again. Either hunt down a local store or check the online site.
Verb labeled + or - R $13.99 per 50 pack or $26.99 per 100 pack
The Verb 50 pack white inkjet printables are $14.99 each.
