There a many different Verbatim DL dvd.s to buy.
Verbatim made in India
made in Taiwan
And the one that are made in Singapore.(the best. they say it in a lot of threads ) but is this truth?
because i found 2 different disc,s (made in singapore)
and i found alot that are made in india.
but the disc,s from singapore are :
the first = 2.4 speed DVD, (max write speed is 2.4)
the Second = 8x speed DVD. (normal and Printable dvd,s) (but minimum write speed is 4x) (is this to fast to write?)
But Is there a BIG different between the disc,s???
The difference is the 2.4x is made differently then the 8x.
If you have an older burner go with the 2.4x cause it may not be able to handle the 8x.
Here's a post that may help explain - link
Moving to a more appropriate forum too - DVD Media.
Didn't know the 8X were made in different way. I guess it's a good thing to make them for more compatibility and same when they make newer drives too. Having Verbs dominate the market isn't going to do anyone any good. i want to see prices for Dls drop, and it hasn't.
I guess our policy of recommending only brand such as Verbs for DL is not the best for the market. Verbs need real competition from Ritek and others to see prices drop, and market prices drop as a whole.

You are right BurningAs.
This policy has positioned Verbatim as the premium DL media. I agreed with this in the past with the 2P method which they invented but are you aware that Verbatim contracts out alot of their 8x DL media? I know for a fact the the Made In India Verbatims are made by Moser Baer.

Verbatim does have real competition, but Verbatim isn't dropping their prices due to they're being the perceived "Cadillac" of DL media. And people are still buying them.
I can show you Nero CD/DVD scans of Verbatim 8x DLs compared to RicohJpn 8x DLs and there is very little difference.
And since I'm paying about $1.33 per disc for my Ricohs and they also happend to be hub-printable, glossy and waterproof compared to the Verbatim non-hub printables at $2.35 ea(or regular, non-printable Verbatims @ $1.80), I'll stick to my Ricohs, thank you!
