I can't install sp3 because when i do it just keeps rebooting and i can never get back to the login screen. After about 15 times rebooting itself it comes up and nothing acts right and i have to erase sp3 and then everything goes back to normal. It all started when IE started acting funny so i just switched to Firefox.

gotaget,
Were you able to run Malwarebytes? OK?
I don?t see anything in your log that would stop you from installing SP3.
It is probably an old computer and may not be worth purchasing a new XP disk
As far as getting into the Safe Mode, there are two ways to do this:
Try Both and see what happens?
The most common is to reboot your computer and then repeatedly hit F8 while it's booting up.
The other way to to go to Start, Run, type in msconfig, and click OK. When the System Configuration Utility window comes up, click the BOOT.INI tab, select SAFEBOOT, and then OK. You will get asked to reboot and when you do, it will come up in Safe Mode.
When you're done in Safe Mode, go back to msconfig and remove the checkmark from SAFEMODE.

Yes i got the malware program to work and it found two. I did the ATF one to and it cleaned 49.56mb.
I went ahead and tried the sp3 thing again just incase. Waiting for it to finish. Will post the HJT when it finishes.
Thanks

Hey, well done gotaget. Your log is clean and I?m sure you?ll be happy with the undated, safer system.
Here are a few things that I suggest, but it?s your choise..
(1) Run HiJackThis then,
The following are not necessarily spyware/malware, but suggest you place a check mark next to the following entries, as these programs may be taking up system resources.
This will not delete or remove these programs but simply stop them from starting and running in the background. When you need one of them it will run as before..
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] \"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe\" ?osboot
(Description: RealPlayer scheduler. Completely unnecessary. Removing this entry will free up a small amount of system resources.)
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe
(Description: Adobe reader startup - unnecessarily uses system resources.)
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
(Description: Microsoft Office startup assistant. Not necessary. Removing this entry will free up a significant amount of system resources.)
Press the "Fix checked" button. Then close HijackThis.
(2) Download and install Comodo BOClean - > HERE!
BOClean is a very un-intrusive program that just sits on your toolbar and you?ll never hear anything out of it unless, a Trojan gets in and tries to install. Then, it will stop it and allow you to Kill it?.. I highly recommend it.
(3) Run Malwarebytes AntiSpyware and ATF Cleaner every week or so to keep your machine clean.
(4) Defrag your hard drive at least once a month more often if you make a lot of changes. Install/uninstall a lot of programs/files, etc.
That should do it?. Hope I was of a little help for you..
