Nero Recode or CloneDVD2?

I've been backing up my commercial DVD's with AnyDVD and DVDShrink/Nero on my XP computer. My new computer is Vista, and from reading I've been doing here it seems I need to find some new software, since it seems DVDShrink often has problems with Vista.
I've read quite a few older threads, still uncertain how to proceed.
I plan to get a new version of Nero (I need it for other jobs) but I am wondering if I should get the full version with Recode, or should I just get the OEM version which if fine for my general needs, and buy CloneDVD2 for recoding. Some threads seem to indicate occasional problems with Vista and Nero 8, so that is a concern too.
I prefer a method that is straight forward, I don't want to run other softwares to clean up files, don't want to do the process in two steps - I want to insert the original and the blank, set it up, come back later and be done.
Any thoughts on which of these two softwares would be the better choice?
Thanks

CloneDVD2 is software that is very easy to use and gives excellent results.

if you want a easy and fast backup, clonedvd2 is the way to go. but, if you want a better picture quality, then recode2 is the way. back up with fab(free) to your hD then use recode2 to compress.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Thanks for the input.
My experience using AnyDVD and DVDShrink is that there are occasional movies that cannot be copied with this combination. When that happens I've been going to my friend's house to use his AnyDVD/CloneDVD2 setup (or I've installed the CloneDVD2 trial on one of my computers). Either way it then copies fine. So it seems like CloneDVD has some added capability that DVDShrink does not. I am wondering if I will encounter the same limitation if I go with Nero Recode, and will still find some movies I cannot copy unless I use CloneDVD.

Have any users of AnyDVD and Recode encountered movies that they could not copy?
Thanks

its most likely a optical drive problem more than a software problem. buy a better optical drive and you will be surprised.
HP systems are the worst with the crappy optical drives they put in them.
what kind of PC do you have?
and we backup movies not copy
better process using DVD shrink:
rip with DVDs decrypt
clean the file with fixates
trans code with DVD shrink
burn with imbuing, using good blank media like Tadio Auden or Verbatim burning at X to X max, more info here

Quote: I don't have any problem using DVD Shrink with Vista Ultimate. The problem is with Nero dropping support for linking from DVD Shrink for the burn process. This can be overcome by using Imgburn as the burn engine. Here is the version of DVD Shrink coded to use Imgburn vs. DVD Decrypter or Nero...

Thanks, that is good to know. When did Nero drop support for linking from DVD Shrink? I am looking at buying either Nero 7.5 or Nero 8.
My computers are all homemade, with Plextor optical drives. When I can't backup an occasional movie it definatly seems to be the DVD Shrink part of AnyDvd + DVDShrink. (Although I guess it uses my Nero 6 too). When I switch instead (on the same machine) to AnyDVD + CloneDVD it backs up fine.
So right now I am leaning toward buying a new version of Nero Basic and getting CloneDVD. I guess CloneDVD has come through for me lots of times and given me a high level of confidence in it. I'm just not sure about Recode since I've never used it.

recode is good its basically an update version of dvd shrink (same author)
using nero 6 is fine but you want to make sure your updated to the 6.6.0.18 version that was the best one, no need to buy or update to nero 8 at all. you can always use imgburn which is freeware
clonedvd + anydvd are both excellent programs that what i use 95% of the time.
as i said if you still want to use dvd shrink try the other process i posted using dvdfab decrypter, fixvts etc.
sounds like your system isn't the problem (i use Plextor drives too) just make sure you have the most up to date firmware for all the Plextor drives you have, check at there website.

edit after reading your first post again you best bet is to use clonedvd with anydvd

Thanks for the info.
I thought I'd try updating to the latest version of nero 7. I downloaded it from nero.com, but it does not accept the license code from my present version 7 oem disk. Is there another way I should be doing the install. Vista will not let me install the ver 7 oem that I have.
Thanks

I've got an OEM Nero Exp disc with Recode. It is version 6.6.0.14.
How can I update it to 6.6.0.18?
Thanks

Just like VHS is still available..but who really uses them?!:-p Yea, I know they will be around for awhile longer...just slowly moving aside for the latest technology. Standard procedure really. :-p
