hi I'm switching CPU's from amd anthlon 64 3000+ to amd anthlon 64x2 dual core 3800+ can i do this??? on the same motherboard? made by ECS Elitegroup model number 761GX-M754----says it supports amd antlon 64/Sempron processors-- all i want to do is change processors on the same motherboard and if its possible?? i cant find the support number for ECS elitegroup to find out furtherwise

you just want to swap out processors?

The chart he posted is telling you what processors are compatible with your motherboard.

you also need to figure out which version you have as it looks like there's a 1, 3, and a 5

If you say your board supports athlong 64 and not 64x2 then i would say now it cannot support a dual core AMD, maybe it can with a Bios update.

bios updates don't show anything for dual core. boards appear not capable of dual core or any speed above 3700+.
This motherboard uses a 754-pin socket that carries the following features:
? Accommodates AMD Sempron/Athlon 64 processors
? Supports up to 1600 MT/s HyperTransportTM (HT) interface speeds
