ok guys a newbie here. i have read a couple of the other threads that have the same problem but they both were left unansered. i have a dell laptop that i am running xp on. i use shrink to decrypt and shrink and nero 6 i believe ( i know its old but it has been flawless up until now, dont fix what isnt broke eh?) i have hp external drive that i run through a adaptec usb2connect cardbus for usb 2.0 transfer rates as the usb is 1.1 on the laptop ( once again old i know but worked fine) now for some reason that im sure is my fault in a slighty inebriated mishap nero shows the drive at 2.0 if i look under options right before i burn. however, when i try to burn at any speed nero starts up by writing the lead in up to three percent, then under normal working conditions i would see the buffer level start to kick in and fluctuate until the burn was finished. this is when it should start wrinting the tracks as is states under normal conditions. this never happens now. if i take the usb cord from the usb2connect cardbus and connect it to the 1.1 usb ports on the laptop and close nero and retart it with the same dvd i had that stopped after the lead in it will burn a perfect copy but of course at the 1.1 speeds which means an hour or so YUCK. under the device manager for the drive it has dma enabled when available which i believe is correct. i have tried reinstalling service pack 2 thinking i deleted something to no avail. i also have tried reinstalling the drivers that came with the carbus to no avail. in device manager under the usb controllers i have the following

PACMAN help a brother out. dont get me wrong i have have been stumped a few other times on some things but with the helpfull people on the forums i have been able to get past those challenges.
this time im in need of some direct help. thanks for viewing and this buds for you if ya can help me out.
