You should read the original thread i posted the other day. i have a whole new philosophy in regards to DVD5s. Plain and simple: the difference in quality NOW A DAYS (2008) does NOT justify the $18 price difference. You are just making Verbs dominate market more and sustaining the market price when it should be falling.

Now back a few years ago the difference in DVD manufacturing quality were very different between brands, but now everyone maxed out. The difference is nothing. I did a bunch of tests about a week ago. Not officially scientific, but results still hold.

I've noticed that Ritek & Cmags test well after they are burned however I prefer to stay with TY's & Verbs.

So what were your results from a week ago?

As far as your TDK sale goes I said yuk because I once bought a 30 pack of TDK CDR's to use as audiodiscs & every one had skipping & pausing problems with several CD players after the 60 minute mark. Some were burned at 32x, some 24x & others at 16x as I was trying to find the best possible speed to burn them at. I won't buy any TDK discs (CD or DVD) after that expereience. Bad batch of CDR's? Perhaps but I haven't tried them since.....

I didn't take screen shots, but scanned 3 16X Maxell CMC Mags (Recently manufactured). All 3 came up zero bad sectors.

As comparison: ran 2 8X Phillips CMC Mags from 3 years ago. had 5 or 6 bad Sectors each.

Finally Ran 4 Recently manufactured SONYs - zero bad sectors each.

To be for scientific I could have ran 10+ of each type of disc, but results will probably be the same.

Of course I agree with you, when prices are the same, it's human nature to go for the top brand, but when huge difference in price for same thing- I'm changed.

You should join Sams Club if they have one in your area. They sell a 100 pack of ink jet printables for $29.37 everyday. http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=387435

yeah I had one awhile ago but never renewed it.

Just buying media would pay the membership cost.
