I have an hp pavillion 6810us laptop and am trying to connect to my Vizio hdtv, model number: vw46l fhdtv10a, using vga cable. They are connected with cable and my tv just says "no signal". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the settings on your video card.

Try this:

1. Right click your desktop and select properties.
2. Next click the settings tab.
3. If your video card supports multiple monitors, you should see a box with a 1 and a box with a 2. Those are your monitor sources.
4. Next click the box numbered 2.
5. Next check the box that reads,"Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor".

Save settings and you should be good to go.
