I am ripping my whole DVD collection to my XP based Media Server, and using TVersity to stream the videos to my PS3, but I am having some problems... some videos play, and some don't...
When using AutoGK, I keep the settings the same for each project. I choose "Predefined Size", and select "2GB". for the Audio I select "AC3 6 Channel" (as I want surround sound). I never change the Advanced Settings (or the hidden settings), and the codec stays the same - "XVID".
The videos play fine on the PC, but some will not play on the PS3. The screen just goes black, and you cannot forward/reverse etc. It just does not do anything.
In order to find out why...
Using a Hex Editor, I found these differences in the beginning of the files:
Can anyone shed any light on these problems I am having? I can anyone recommend other ripping methods, created about 2gb video files, with surround sound?
Is 2GB the cut off for xvid files in a PS3?
To test it and see if it is a size problem, you could load the file into VirtualDub, select 'Video' 'Direct Stream Copy' and select a clip and save it, then see if it's acceptable.

Well, I have opted to manually convert my DVDs using DVD2AVI, and VirtualDubMod. My first one ended up being 2.5gb, and plays perfectly, both on my PC and the PS3 :)
