Dear God, I joined this forum because frankly, I'm at my wits end.

I downloaded the new Nero 8 trial and decided to purchase the serial number. Put in the serial number and it proceeded to download MORE files... okay fine.

So I go to Nero Vision 5 put in my avi file and it gives me my little thumbnail showing that it is indeed there. I go to edit the movie and put in chapter breaks and everything is greyed out. Ooookay... so I go to preview and theres no movie. The timer politely tells me that my "movie" is 00 hours 00 minutes and 00 seconds long. I've converted the avi to every other file type imaginable and it still tells me theres no movie to preview.

also, I've ran Gspot to see if the codecs are actually installed and it says the AVI DIVIX isn't installed when I very much DID install them... unless I did it wrong. *thud* This old lady needs your help.

I'm running a new Vista machine. If theres another thread on this problem if anyone can point me to it I'd be grateful.

Ohh hope you had a good one.

I did install that particular codec pack. but like I said G-spot is telling me its NOT installed, now I'm wondering if its my computer thats messing up and not Nero.

Thanks for your help though, I'll muddle through and if I still have a problem I'll come back.
