Does anyone know to convert cd ps1 into dvd ps2 format so we can play it without swapmagic ? I don't understand. My ps2 is fat model scph-39006 able read dvd ps2 backup but it can't read cd ps1.
I'm try searching everywhere for couple of days and never found anything about convert cd ps1 into dvd ps2. Is this really impossible ?

This is not possible. I would recommend playing around with the white cog wheel to adjust the laser height. A good cleaning of the two laser lens would be of further benefit.

@HG27 Does laser height ( laser setting ) really important for compability reading cd ps1? Because ps2 already modded and able read dvd backup but it always show red screen "please insert playstation format disk" everytime I insert cd ps1. It seems my ps2 has some trouble for reading cd.

I would imagine so, cause my first PS2 (V4 gap BIOS) wouldn't read DVD based games. After a bit of tweaking to the laser height via the cog wheel all games worked.

Then my other cousin had a PS2 that would read discs for like 3 secs. Then the motor would stop and a 'disc read error' would show. A good cleaning of the two laser lens fixed everything up perfectly. Games ended up loading super fast. No need to even mess with the cog on that one.

If this is a copy then the laser is going to have a harder time reading it. That is unless your using proper burn speed and quality media.

@HG27 Thank's for response. But I think the problem is not in laser/optic. Because my ps2 can read dvd backup 100% fine.
As long the CD/DVD in format ps2 there are no problem.

So I must find a way how to convert cd ps1 into dvd ps2 format ( change ps1 into ps2 format ). Since I don't know anything about programmer so I'm try to ask here. I hope there are someone know how to do it.

That is pretty strange, reading PS2 CD/DVD but no PS1. Though I am sorry to say, that there is simply no way to accomplish this feat. This is what I have seen as the response made by more advanced users on forums.

I would say your next option is to get a PS1. I got one at a second hand shop for 10¢

Red screen is a clue. It's the way you are burning the disks, and probably something to do with the games region.

If games are different region you should just get rolling lines and black and white picture. At least that is what I get for PS2 games, not sure about PS1 games.

Yeah it's very strange. Maybe it because my modchip is not compatible with ps1 format. There are some people in my country who has same trouble. And they told me to insert cd ps1, hold reset button until OFF, then hold reset button again until sony playstation screen appear. Sometimes this trick will work after repeat several times. But they also said this trick is not good for optic health. So I'm prefer find another way.

my slim ps2 is modded with the crystal chip, i have to hold in the reset power button for 3 seconds for it to reconize thats its a ps1 game

So you have same trouble with me too?
Maybe if we have same game one for ps1 and the other for ps2 we can explore what different between ps1 and ps2 format.
