Problems with DVD decrypter and WinAvi

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this.

I'm having several different problems turning VOB files into AVI files using WinAvi which I'm assuming is down to me doing something wrong in DVD decrypter.

I've finally managed to get DVD Decrypter to rip a DVD into a single VOB file (before it was ripping them into several VOB files) which play perfectly in VLC player but when I run it through WinAVI I have one of several problems:

1)The speech is badly out of sync or there is no sound at all

2)I get a message saying download DVD/MPEG 2 decoder from the website but when I go to the link its not there. I've also tried to find it on google but no luck

3)WinAvi begins as normal but then just seems to stop all together. Nothing is happening in the preview box either. Even if I leave it for several hours nothing happens.

Also if I try and rip a single episode off a DVD, for example a Simpsons episode WinAVI forces subtitles or directors comments subtitles that cannot be removed.

I've restored all the options to default now to make it easier for you to help me out. ANY help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Just to clarify I'm still ahving these problems even after resetting the default settings. Decrypter now splits the movies into about 5 VOB files. Again these play perfectly but when I try and convert them I get the above issues.
