SONY Vaio very annoying problem....

Ok, I have a SONY VAIO VGN-FE865E. I got this computer in August and had vista all through the school year. I have gotten very frustrated with it and took the jump and installed xp professional only to learn that SONY does not support the downgrade. I have all the drivers I need, but I still have a major problem. I cannot control my backlight, I have downloaded utilities for Vista for my model, would not work. I have downloaded utilities for other VAIO's with xp supported, but the setup detected that I did not have the right model. I have been going on this problem for a few weeks now with no luck and a backlight on the dimmest settings. There is no option in my BIOS either. Please help me >_<.
