Search afterdawn for the instructions i wrote awhile ago, they're easy to follow, if you have any questions search for it first, and if by chance you can't find what your looking for then ask questions.

Nope your hopeless or don't have any common sense
The link i gave you contains the map pack installer for a modded xbox.
Your maps probably aren't showing up because you haven't updated halo 2 yet.

That's what I mean by search. I hope I answered all your questions now.

Technically you dont need the Halo 2 1.1 update to get the map packs to work. Simple hex editing of the map files and re-burning of a DVD copy of the files will solve that problem, or simple BSP conversions. If you have modded the xbox, I suggest you upgrade the HDD, and rip all content to that. I personally have a 300gig HDD in mine. Can't imagine living without it. It makes game and content ripping to much easier. I do however suggest that you buy the mappack. I think I saw it for like 5 bucks at ebgames. Well worthit to have a backup of. Messing around with containers on the HDD for content can be somewhat troublesome and usually end up in HDD bricking if you dont know EXACTLY what your doing. Hope this helps!

WTF?
Ok let's get this straight, instead of using an auto installing program that you need to drop back to the games root directory and change the name to $U, you want him to edit it hex on his computer? Gee i wonder which one is easier to do, editing a file in hex and burning a dvd or changing a name.
How exactly do you brick a hard drive when you're modifying files in E. You can delete everything in E and the xbox will still boot back to your modded dash. Seriously get a clue how the xbox os works. When i mod xbox's the E is left alone (only the partition is created), when a game is loaded and a new profile is created data is written to tdata and udata. If the folders aren't present it creates them. So how is it supposed to brick?
The maptacular map pack is 427mb. I tried to upload it yesterday but my router is a pos so it kept cutting out. It's simple to install, if you follow my directions u'll be up and running in 3 mins after transfering the map pack over to your xbox.
jviper if you need me to upload it i'll try to again, let me know.

First off, I don't need some teenage punk telling me anything I already know. I am quite familiar with the xbox operating system. My statement was meant as a general rule of thumb. If tinkering with the HDD, don't touch stuff you don't know about! Second, modding your xbox in my experience, has generally been for modding game content, therefore, I was trying to give him a quick helping hand. And third, hex editing the maps takes like 10 seconds. If you were familiar with editing Halo's maps or their relative tags and metadata you would have known that, smart ass! But seriously, just go out and buy the mappack. There is no shame in buying it and giving a little back to the wonderful people who make the games you enjoy. Piracy is the poor mans tool of the trade.

Teenage wow, i know i'm ignorant and cocky but i'm not a teen.
I've modded maps since halo 1 with a hex editor maybe 4 or 5 years ago. This program is really easy to setup and run. Anyway, this isn't between you and me, just let it go.

Im not sure I understand that completely. To rephrase.... you want to know why you can play the modded content but not everyone else can see it. If that is the correct the question, then here are some of my opinions as to why this would happen.
1. Internal map name may have been changed.
2. Map has not been properly SL fixed.
3. Noone else has modded content.
4. Auto-update may have ben disabled or enabled, depending on the map.
- As a side note, did you create the mods yourself or apply them via sppf-o-matic or serenity? And what apps did you use to make the mods?

UNDERSTAND THIS
Your mainmenu.map file is differnt than everyone elses. They see the original maps and you see the original and modded maps. If you have a modded map named a default name like lockout.map then it will load your map and everyone else will see their version. If you modded the assault rifle to shoot rockets then they would only be rockets on your xbox and not rockets on the stock xbox's. You would be at a great disadvantage. If you have custom map names like Custommap.map and everyone eles has the same map name and the modded mainmenu.map file then you can all see the same map and play with modded maps. It also matters if you are hosting. If you are hosting with a default name the attributes like modded weapons and ammo content will take effect on all xbox's. Textures and things custom will not.
Does this make sense? (sorry i've been drinkin)
I read it over and it makes sense to me. I'm not an expert but i know the basics, so if you have any problems in the future just ask.
