Hi all, I plan on building a new PC in the summer, (July - August), and was wondering if somebody could help me decide on the best parts to get for the value. Sammorris has already helped me alot, and I was looking to get more opinions.

This is what I have so far...

CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...15042&Tpk=q9450

MOBO -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128331

RAM -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184

HDD -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...pk=veliciraptor

CASE -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146017

PSU -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002

Sound Card -
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?s...Creative%20Labs

Monitor -
A 24" with HDMI, preferably Samsung.

Graphics Card -
Wait for the 9900GX2?

Fans -
How many extra fans should I get to keep it running cool? I don't want my computer sounding like a vacuum cleaner, but I want to have it run cool at the same time.

How different is it between liquid/air cooling?

Is there anything that I'm missing, and could I make better choices on the parts I will purchase?

*P.S - The computer will be mostly used for gaming, video editing, and watching movies.

Hope to hear from you soon

Well, i've apparently already done my share, but to comment on your component list:

CPU: Excellent
Motherboard: Excellent
RAM: Excellent
HDD: Outstanding
Case: Outstanding
PSU: Mediocre
Sound Card: Overpriced

Use this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139002
This sound card will do fine: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102017
As for the graphics card, I don't know of any 9900GTX that exists. You may be referring to the GTX280, which will be a card worth waiting for.
Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001263

You shouldn't have cooling issues in that case, I use it and I don't. Water cooling will not be necessary. If you plan to overclock the CPU though, you will want to get an aftermarket cooler like this one:

you can save some money by buying the same case without an included psu.

Whoops my mistake, I didn't even notice he chose the one with the PSU. Yeah, go with the one without, for obvious reasons.

Thanks for the replies!

You guys have been a great help to me.

I live in Canada,
so unfortunately I can't buy anything from newegg .. >=(

What are some good, reliable places I can purchase the parts online?

Also, what kind of CD/DVD Drive is the most reliable?

As for DVD drives, Sony/NEC Optiarc drives are good, as are Pioneer and LG.

Great.
This is looking pretty good, a few more questions though.

1) Will this PC run relatively quiet?
2) The GTX280, is it slated for a July release?
3) Do you think the next card ATI is planning on releasing would be better than Nvidia's?

Better is relative. It won't be faster, but it'll use far less power, be quieter and significantly cheaper.

If you use the PSU I recommended, that PC will be very quiet.
